Pronunciation of "Ulanbaatar"

U·laan·baa·tar    (län-bätär)

capital and largest city of Mongolia, in the north-central part of the country. It was founded as a monastery town in 1649 and was long a trading center on various caravan routes between Russia and China. Population: 819,000.
More information on Pronunciation:  When we talked to Brother Soderberg who just returned from Mongolia three months ago, he told us that the above pronunciation is the way the Russians say it, but the native Mongolians pronounce it "Oo lan blahdder." (Oo like the sound in "Sue.")
