Early in the morning on Monday, August 31, 2009 in President Anderson’s office in the Bayansurkh LDS Church building in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, Richard was set apart as first counselor in the Mongolia Ulaanbaatar Mission by President D. Allen Andersen assisted by his second counselor President Batbold. We are excited and humbled by this calling. President Andersen outlined President Lasson’s responsibilities would be to assist in providing second interviews of certain investigators preparing for baptism, temple recommend interviewing, sitting in on disciplinary councils, and taking in the lead in training the district and branch presidencies in two districts here in Mongolia. Even though this will take more time, we pray the Lord will bless and sustain him in fulfilling his responsibilities.
After he was set apart, Richard told me that the leaders here in Mongolia are operating without a Church Handbook of Instructions translated into their own language. It’s amazing they do as well as they do. A handbook in Mongolian is expected to arrive here by the end of this year and will certainly be a blessing to Church leaders throughout Mongolia.

Heavenly Father must know you really well, Dad. You're such an in-tune hard-worker (a great combination for a counselor). You'll be a perfect addition and Mom will be a perfect supporter and help. I love you two!!
